AD Energy is looking for an experienced Process Engineer for one of our clients who are developers of RNG facilities across the US Biogas sector.
The salary for this role is set at $130,000 – $160,000.
The company builds/acquires, owns, and operates renewable natural gas (RNG) producing facilities with the mission to build tomorrow’s resource recovery infrastructure today. By marketing and selling RNG and capturing associated tax benefits, the company can significantly reduce the cost of wastewater treatment and disposal for communities while improving environmental outcomes.
We are seeking an RNG Process Engineer, Gas Upgrading. This position requires an individual who embodies our client’s values while carrying out the role of subject matter expert related to the company’s RNG-related systems and processes, including design, start-up, operations, and optimization.
This role requires an individual who is detail-oriented, a systematic thinker, a technical contributor and leader, a collaborator, and willing and able to solve difficult problems. This role will be a key collaborator with internal Origination & Development, Engineering, Project Management, and Operations; external partners such as EPC contractors, vendors, suppliers, and partners in gas upgrading, processing, and distribution, regulatory agencies and local authorities, research organizations and more.
• Be the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Gas Upgrading Technologies, and for Biogas and RNG (Biomethane) Process Units, including: • Biogas polishing, separation and compression, such as membrane separation, PSA, scrubbing technologies
• Technologies for the removal of moisture, impurities and contaminants such as nitrogen, oxygen, H2S, siloxanes.
• Natural Gas Pipeline specifications for Natural Gas and RNG.
• RNG Interconnection systems – design, operation, maintenance
• Flare systems and emission management
• Utilization of off-gas stream (such as CO2) – liquefaction, upgrading, delivery
• Provide immediate and effective support to Operations teams in improving Gas Upgraders performance, in trouble shooting, outages, start-ups etc.
• Prepare and oversee the preparation of: process deliverables of the Gas Upgrading Unit and associated systems – Develops and/or checks overall plant and unit simulations using standard process simulation programs;
• Lead major design and risk review sessions, e.g. HAZOP, PDR, CDR, 3D Model Review.
• Assumes the responsibility to lead technical discussions with third parties (contractors, partners, solution providers, regulators, suppliers.
• Support the commissioning of process equipment and the training of customer personnel
• Engage in other duties as assigned by leadership.
• Travel as required by to plants, customers/partners, etc. for in person meetings, trouble shooting, field tests, etc.
• MSc or BSc in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university or college (or international equivalent)
• A minimum of 7 years (total) of relevant experience including: o at least 3 years in a process engineering role AND o at least 5 years’ combined experience in design, construction and operation of combustible gas processing or upgrading facilities.
• Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of combustible gas (such as natural gas) specifications, testing, gas compression, liquefaction and delivery.
• Willingness and ability to travel 30-40% of the time over the course of the year to project sites and plants for feasibility and development meetings, plant start-up, operational reviews, company meetings, and industry events. Most trips are 5 days or less. Start-up may require a trip for up to 2 weeks.
