AD Energy Recruitment is partnering with a growing renewable energy platform to appoint a Mechanical Engineer to support the design, development, and delivery of biogas and Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) facilities.
This role sits at the heart of project engineering, working closely with project managers, internal engineering teams, and third-party consultants to deliver high-quality mechanical designs across skid-mounted equipment and balance-of-plant systems.
The Mechanical Engineer will take ownership of piping design, P&IDs, 3D modelling, and construction-ready drawings, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high technical standard.
This is a hands-on engineering role suited to someone who enjoys ownership, technical depth, and working across multiple projects in a fast-growing RNG environment.
Key Responsibilities
Mechanical Design & Engineering
• Lead the development and maintenance of mechanical and piping specifications in line with industry standards and best practices
• Develop, review, and maintain P&IDs, ensuring accurate documentation of design changes and MOC updates
• Produce 3D CAD models for RNG and biogas facilities, generating isometric, fabrication, and installation drawings
• Create facility layouts, skid designs, piping arrangements, and mechanical details for gas processing plants
Project Delivery & Coordination
• Work closely with project engineering and project management teams to support multiple concurrent projects
• Coordinate and oversee third-party engineering consultants and contract designers when required
• Participate in design reviews and model walkthroughs using Navisworks and similar platforms
• Generate accurate bills of materials (BOMs) and support procurement of piping, valves, and fittings within budget constraints
Standards, Documentation & Continuous Improvement
• Develop and maintain standard drawing templates and support continuous improvement of design standards
• Review operating data and project performance, providing engineering recommendations where appropriate
• Support internal teams with clear, accurate documentation throughout the project lifecycle
Qualifications & Experience
• 5+ years’ experience in mechanical engineering, drafting, or 3D modelling within:
• Natural gas
• Chemical processing
• Biogas / RNG (highly desirable)
• Strong experience with Plant 3D and intelligent 3D models
• In-depth understanding of:
• P&ID development
• Piping systems, specifications, and applicable codes
• Mechanical drawings, schematics, and one-line electrical diagrams
• Ability to interpret, convert, and integrate third-party engineering drawings into CAD models
• Proven ability to deliver high-quality drawings on schedule across multiple projects

• Confident communicator, able to work cross-functionally with engineers, contractors, and project managers
• Comfortable working independently while contributing effectively within a wider engineering team
• Proficient in MS Office and standard engineering software
