AD Energy is working with our Automotive client, a leading provider of test and measurement systems during an exciting period of growth. With 2024 and beyond already looking very exciting and very busy, this opportunity is due to an increased number of ongoing and upcoming projects. We currently have an opportunity for an experienced Electronics engineer who has a strong background in PCB design and good hands-on electronics abilities.

Role details:

To provide electronics & mechatronics expertise on the creation, design, production, installation and support of scientific electro-mechanical systems for market-leading order books of industry-leading customers.

Provide expert advice to internal and external stakeholders and ensure products are fit for purpose, meet the requirements of customers and comply with regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the design/development of new systems, circuits and devices following established company procedures.
  • Undertake electrical conceptual and detailed design of PCBs and electrical systems, with consideration to product requirements and to relevant industry directives (EMCD, LVD).
  • Prepare technical specifications, test procedures and reports to company and customer standards.
  • Liaise with suppliers to ensure requirements are communicated effectively to ensure an appropriate selection of materials and services.
  • Support the manufacture of prototypes including soldering, assembly, programming and testing and liaising with relevant departments.
  • Support testing to ensure products integrate and function correctly with both new and existing equipment, systems and devices.
  • Prepare budget and schedule documentation considering technical risk (quality, time and cost).
  • Take responsibility for the preparation of prototype build documentation including:

-Schematic design

-Wiring sheets and instructions

-Bill of Materials

-Test specifications

-User, Installation and service manuals

  • Ensure regulatory directive compliance during the approval & qualification of new products.
  • Support the company and department in achieving objectives and meeting KPI targets.

Skills and Experience:

Essential

  • Mechatronics / electronics engineering background with strong technical knowledge.
  • Experience of hardware and PCB conceptual / detailed design
  • Experience with component selection
  • Practical skills including cable manufacture, soldering and assembly
  • Hands on experience prototype testing and fault finding (hardware and software)
  • Digital and analogue I/O knowledge
  • Low power design knowledge
  • P&ID system flow and control experience

Preferred

  • Electronics bias through proven experience
  • Experience of test and measurement instrumentation
  • Experience of LCAD, Creo or AutoCAD software
  • A good understanding of relevant industry standards and regulations (e.g. Machinery Directive, Low Voltage Directive, EMC Directive)
  • Some experience of embedded software programming
