This position is key to the successful start-up and performance of large-scale biogas and industrial energy plants. You’ll take full ownership of the commissioning phase — managing and coordinating all site activities from mechanical completion through to biological commissioning and final performance testing.
Ensure the efficient, safe, and on-budget delivery of the commissioning and start-up phases, while guaranteeing plant performance and customer satisfaction.
• Coordinate all commissioning activities from dry start-up through performance testing.
• Plan, organize, and oversee on-site operations and resources.
• Uphold the highest standards of safety and compliance across all phases.
• Achieve or improve project timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
• Ensure accurate and timely reporting and documentation.
• Identify project risks early and implement effective mitigation measures.
• Deliver seamless handover to the client’s operations team with proper training and documentation.
• Drive customer satisfaction through professional and proactive engagement.
• Lead commissioning activities across mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and biological systems.
• Review and interpret technical documentation, drawings, and P&IDs.
• Develop and agree project schedules and commissioning budgets with project and site managers.
• Coordinate all stakeholders involved in commissioning (internal teams, subcontractors, and vendors).
• Monitor plant functionality during testing and performance validation.
• Ensure O&M manuals are finalized and delivered before commissioning begins.
• Train client operators on plant operation, safety procedures, and maintenance routines.
• Conduct component tests, prepare and deliver test protocols, and ensure accurate reporting.
• Provide lessons learned and feedback to project and engineering teams for continuous improvement.
• Represent the company on-site as the key technical interface during commissioning and start-up.
• Promote and enforce safety rules during all commissioning and start-up operations.
• Ensure that all personnel involved in commissioning are trained and aware of relevant risks.
• Stop or escalate unsafe activities as required.
• Maintain compliance with ISO and company quality standards.
Below is a breakdown of the various requirements for the role:
• Degree or technical diploma in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in site management or commissioning within industrial, energy, or biogas plant construction.
• Strong ability to interpret technical drawings, P&IDs, and control system documentation.
• Broad technical understanding across mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and biological disciplines.
• Experience using SCADA/DCS systems and control logic for industrial operations.
• Proven background in ISO 9001 / 14001 / 45000-compliant environments.
• Familiarity with waste treatment, anaerobic digestion, or water treatment plants.
• Fluent in Italian, with good working knowledge of English.
• Biogas-specific experience is advantageous.
• Strong technical leadership and team coordination skills.
• Excellent communication and relationship management abilities.
• Proactive, analytical mindset with strong problem-solving ability.
• High flexibility regarding working hours and travel across Italy and abroad.
• Results-driven attitude with a strong commitment to safety and quality.
• Knowledge of additional foreign languages.
