This is a Commissioning Engineer role based in the Instrumentation and Electrical sector.
It’s a remote USA role with Field Assignments (up to 70% travel)
A national leader in renewable energy solutions is seeking a Commissioning Engineer – Instrumentation & Electrical to support the deployment of anaerobic digestion facilities converting food and dairy waste into renewable energy.
The ideal candidate will play a critical role in ensuring systems are constructed and commissioned according to design specifications and are safely handed over to operations. This position involves hands-on work across multiple sites and phases of commissioning.
• Lead execution of commissioning plans, plant start-up strategies, and performance acceptance tests.
• Ensure safe site practices during commissioning activities.
• Facilitate integration between engineering, construction, and operations during all phases of commissioning.
• Maintain and support the project commissioning schedule.
• Monitor and ensure compliance with contractor commissioning, start-up, and testing plans.
• Provide technical oversight during project commissioning, pre-planning, documentation, and turnover.
• Track project milestone progress and deliverables.
• Review and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and manufacturer documentation.
• Develop positive working relationships with field teams and contractors.
• Maintain consistent and timely attendance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• 5–10 years of experience in commissioning, startup, or plant operations, ideally with electrical and instrumentation systems.
• Strong understanding of health and safety standards and regulations.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office tools.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication and time management abilities.
• Willingness and ability to travel up to 70% of the time.
• Capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
• Experience in commissioning practices, especially in electrical and control system integration.
• Familiarity with biogas plant operations, process systems, and equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Flexibility with work hours and availability during field assignments.
