As a member of the Engineering Services Team, you will be responsible for creating substation drawing packages including one-line drawings, substation plan and elevation drawings, electrical assembly drawings, equipment manufacturing drawings, foundation and grounding plan drawings, conduit and cable routing plan drawings, cable schedules, bill of materials, and detailed electrical connection drawings.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Risk assessment and mitigation reviews related to the engineering and design scope deliverables for electric substations, including but not limited to:
- Substation structures and/or modifications to existing steel structures
- Below-grade and above-grade civil works
- Environmental review/compliance
- General arrangement and profile drawings
- Project scoping
- Grounding
- Specifications and Standards
- Safety
- QA/QC
- Substations equipment and devices
- Assist as appropriate in the development of project estimates as they relate to substation design opportunities
- Ability to develop and modify Substation Drawings as necessary
- Mentor Engineers in the following areas: Teach the fundamentals of Substation Design, How to manage Substation Design projects
- Give general understanding of considerations of Station Design outside of the Electrical portion: Structural, Geotechnical, Civil, and Environmental
- Develop organizational structure for us to perform complete Design for Substation work
- Customer visits as necessary (Travel approximately 10% of the time)
EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology
- Minimum of 10 (ten) years of experience in the field of Substation Engineering
- Active PE License in a US State with the ability and willingness to obtain licenses in further states as necessary
