Our journey into the North American market has certainly been an eventful one. We made the decision in Q4 2022 to fully embark on our North American adventure – taking all of the knowledge, drive and passion we’ve gained over the years in the UK and European markets and showcasing that across the pond with clients in this developing market.
One of our first stops was Biogas Americas 2023, the annual tradeshow and conference by the American Biogas Council (ABC), which took place this month in Chicago. As the largest gathering of biogas professionals in North America, with over 1,500 attendees and 150 exhibitors from 30 different countries, it’s a huge opportunity to meet with like-minded clients and other professionals in the industry.
At AD Energy, it’s so important for us to get face time with our clients – no matter where they are in the world – although we’re not sure our families agree when we leave on weeklong trips away!
See how Biogas is changing the energy sector
It was our first time attending an American Biogas Council event and what a time to visit. The trade show has doubled in size from last year’s outing, with attendance 40% higher, not only reflecting the number of new biogas systems coming online each year but also highlighting just how exciting and fast-growing the biogas industry is.
Overall, the event was incredibly well run. I was particularly impressed by the bespoke event app, which we used for pre-planning. With a simple click of a button, we could organise meetings and access maps, ensuring we never missed a keynote speech or any clients. The app was arguably the most advanced way to keep the experience user-friendly and allowed us to soak up all of the information we could, which enhanced our time there ten-fold.
It was also really refreshing to have so many people that share our passion for the industry under one roof.
Speaking with clients and telling them about the plans we have here at AD Energy – including our experience in establishing ourselves as the go-to RNG recruiters in the North American Biogas market – was hugely satisfying. It helped that we’d made the 7,500-mile round trip, which our clients really appreciated!
Likewise, every client we spoke to had so much time for us. We’re still not sure if they needed longer to understand the thick Glaswegian accents or if they were so blown away with Christopher’s tartan suit but either way, we appreciated the effort and hospitality everyone showed us.
Find a Role with AD Energy
Having the ABC events also allows us to showcase our business and our incredibly talented team, which is just so important. We mentioned early about how a huge part of staying relevant in the market is getting in front of people.
We believe that more than ever, especially in a world where Teams is now seemingly the go-to option. We’d rather take the face-to-face approach and trust me when I say, investing the time to go and actually see people allows for deeper, more productive relationships.
Overall, our visit to the ABC event did not disappoint. We’ve come away with new clients, knowledge and connections that will only grow stronger over the coming months. We’d personally like to thank ABC for putting on such a great event and allowing us to attend.
